Who we are

This website is operated by the Committee to Elect Josh Smead (“we,” “us,” or “the campaign”) in support of Josh Smead’s campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives in Missouri’s 6th Congressional District.

What this covers

This policy applies to votesmead.com and related campaign pages we control (including volunteer, events, and news pages).

Our merchandise store at store.votesmead.com is a separate property and may have its own terms and privacy practices for checkout and orders. Donation processing on ActBlue is handled by ActBlue under ActBlue’s policies.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Contact details you submit — such as name, email address, phone number, postal address, and ZIP code — through volunteer, signup, or event forms.
  • Messages and preferences you send us (for example, interest in volunteering, hosting, or yard signs).
  • Event information if you RSVP or interact with campaign events listed on the site.
  • Technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location derived from IP, referring pages, and pages viewed — typically collected by our hosting and security providers as part of operating the site.
  • Donation information if you give online — payment details are collected by ActBlue (or another payment processor), not stored on this website.

We do not ask you to submit sensitive information (such as Social Security numbers) through this website.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Respond to you and run campaign organizing (volunteer, events, updates).
  • Send email or text updates you requested or consented to receive.
  • Improve the website, fix problems, and keep the site secure.
  • Comply with applicable law, including campaign-finance reporting where required.

We do not sell your personal information. We may use service providers who process data only to help us operate the campaign and the website.

When we share information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help us run the site and outreach — for example hosting, security/CDN, email or form tools (such as Action Network), and event tools.
  • Payment processors such as ActBlue when you donate.
  • Legal or regulatory authorities when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the campaign and visitors.

Linked third-party sites (social networks, ActBlue, the store, and similar) have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to read those before sharing information there.

Cookies and similar technology

The site and its providers may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary to run the website, remember preferences, and protect against abuse. Our hosting and CDN providers may also set cookies related to security and performance.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Your choices

  • Email: use the unsubscribe link in campaign emails, or contact us using the details below to be removed from future email updates.
  • Text messages: follow the stop instructions in the message (for example, reply STOP) if you opted into texts.

We take reasonable steps to protect information we maintain. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
